What is Thai Yoga Massage?
'Thai massage is an ancient healing
art. The teachings of its legendary
Indian founder reached Thailand about 2200 years
ago, along with Buddhism and Ayurveda. It is
intended as a spiritual practice, a meditative
application of loving kindness.
Thai massage is based on a concept of
invisible energy lines (the ten ‘sen’)
that run throughout the body. Important energy
points are located along these lines.
Thai massage is applied with the client lying,
fully clothed, on a futon on the floor. The
practitioner uses thumb, palm, elbow, knee and
foot pressure, combined with gentle
yoga based stretches, to release blockages
and stimulate the flow of prana (life force
or energy). This enables a balancing of the
prana, leading to increased vitality and well
being.
