1 - What if I have
never done yoga before?
Then a yohm yoga class where your body is cared
for by your very own personal yoga instructor
will be the ultimate introduction. Yoga needn't’t
be at all an embarrassing faux par. Please banish
right now all distressing visuals of your last
game of ‘twister’ gone wrong. Great
news is, no matter what your weight, size and
shape, every body is capable of doing yoga,
yes really. All it takes is a willingness to
enjoy and a great yohm technician who will work
with due diligence and all the gentleness required.
For a selection of suitable classes see the
yohm Yoga Menu.
2 - Don’t I
have to be somewhat flexible and a little athletic?
No. Your yohm technician will sensibly adjust
a sequence of yoga postures to carefully suit
your body, particularly in cases where complete
inflexibility is experienced. In time muscles
will lengthen and you will be amazed at the
results. Sample gently the benefits of Yoga
for your body on a yohm
Yoga and Detox Retreat.
3 - Would it matter
if I had injuries or specific medical ailments?
Yes injuries and medical ailments matter to
us very much. We highly recommend a consultation
with your regular GP and/or physiotherapist, osteopath
or chiropractor before undertaking any form
of yoga practice. To find an outstanding practitioner
go to yohm Health
4 - Can I injure myself?
Yes and there are certain postures that yohm
instructors will not teach without a certificate
from your chiropractor or physiotherapist. Thanks
for respecting our stance for your safety on
this one.
CAUTION:
Injuries caused from unsafe Yoga practice increased
by more than 40% in 2004. With a yohm
Yoga Technician you'll enjoy a safe and
beneficial practice every time.
5 - Can I do
yoga with a bad back and other injuries?
Yes. However we would always like you to seek
medical advice first from your Doctor or Osteopath
first. yohm recommends Osteopaths and Chiropractors
for ongoing consulting purposes for our clients
as we work with many seeking freedom from the
restraints of their injuries. Sensibility, caution
and expert knowledge are required of our technicians
in such cases. When approached intelligently
yoga strengthens the core – the natural
support of the body – and can release
the tension that many of us are holding in our
backs and other points of ailment helping them
to repair.
6 - What's
the difference between all the different types
of Yoga?
Hatha, Astanga Vinyasa, Iyengar, Sivananda,
Bikram, Tantra, Raja, Bhakti, Karma, Jnana….It
can all be just a little bit confusing frankly.
For a complete unfolding see Yoga
Styles and Methods
7 - Which of
the styles discussed is best for me?
yohm utilises methods from all variations of
Yoga. Remember as complicated as some would
make it seem, yoga is simple.Your yohm yoga
technician will advise thoroughly on a personable
practice and this is the complete advantage
of having your very own instructor. Upon their
experiences of how your body works, taking into
consideration, medical history, any previous
or permanent injury, any physical goals you
may have and your current state of physiology
you will be taught the very best techniques.
See our Yoga
Styles and Methods section for further explanations
of popular yoga variations.
8 - What do
I wear?
Something as loose and/or as comfortable as
possible. Tracksuit pants, fisherman's trousers,
or regular lycra sportswear is perfect. Just
imagine you were to do the splits in these clothes
without tearing.
Keep in mind that even though difficult to find,
natural organic fibres are best against the
skin where ever possible as they allow the skin
to breathe freely when releasing toxins. Shoes
and socks are not worn during yoga and something
warm to slip on during your warm up and relaxation
is recommended.

9 - What makes
a yohm yoga teacher so different from the rest?
It’s the attention to detail. yohm yoga
teachers are trained to the above and beyond
industry norms to deliver an unforgettable experience
every time. Many of them multi talented in their
professions relating to the the human body. They
experience one-on-one coaching from yohm’s
founder, to make your experience not great but
the very best! Candles are lit, chimes are rung,
music is played, meditation is taught, and peronsona
is everything. yohm teachers are so likeable,
you’ll want to pack one.
10 - Can
I choose my instructor?
To a degree Yes. Giving us
as much information about yourself when booking
will enable us to match a suitable teacher to
you. When booking a ten class course it has
been known to happen that you fall in love with
your teacher and you want to keep them throughout
you ten classes and longer, perhaps packing
them in your suitcase when traveling next to
the Bahamas and even popping them under the
xmas tree wrapped in red satin ribbon, just
so you can gift yourself all over again. Should
you however fancy a different teacher at any
time through-out your ten class course for any
reason at all including ‘just because’,
please request. Variety is the spice of life
and after all -you are worth it!
To a degree No. All yohm
teachers are virtually equal in talent and ability.
You may notice we don’t list individual
biographies or include photographs of our instructors
on this site. We wanted our class distribution
to be fair and equal. Each of our yohm instructors
have been carefully and selectively ‘hand
picked’ from a very large organic crop
of talented yoga technicians from around the
world. If we didn’t think you’d
love them, we wouldn’t have invited them
to be a part of our team. The ‘best’,
is our promise to you.
11
- Can I do it with a friend?
Yes you can and the price is 1.5 x just as it
is for our listed yohm Yoga
experience for couples
Although practicing with a friend could be
seemingly more fun, most of you told us that
you preferred having all of our attention to
your self. It’s the attention to detail
we put into our 1:1’s that make the experience
unique and special. Our instructors are genius,
however, in setting your expectations one pair
of hands and eyes can only goes as far as one
pair of hands and eyes can.
As no two bodies are alike, we suggest you
and a friend try a class together, and try a
class apart, before reaching a decision on the
way you would like to practice regularly.

do yoga parties?
Yes we do, said to be the most fun you'll ever

long should I wait to do Yoga after I eat?
A standard 2 hours is a sensible ideal, but
this also depends on what you eat and how hungry
you are. An apple or a banana are not likely
to upset things. A steak on the other hand might.
Leave it to your better judgment. Trial and
error and the occasional stomach cramp will
soon let you know if you’ve eaten too
close to your class.

breathe through my nose in Yoga, or my mouth,
or both?

organs and systems, as do food allergies and
intolerance's, and an even greater role is often
played by the emotions and an ongoing battle
ever present in the mind.
yohm Yoga addresses every single one of these
elements.De-constructing a weight problem as
a whole rather than any one individual component.
Importantly, if weight loss or gain is a goal,
please inform us when booking your yohm Experience
in order that a personalised weight loss program
may be devised and discussed with you.
Note: Many of the postures
you will be taught are cleverly designed to
stimulate the bodies lymph, endocrine and digestive
systems to release toxins, reduce puffiness
and rid the body of fluid retention. Combined

eating plan, inch loss and tone is inevitable.
Important: Numerous studies
have proven that the best weight loss results
came from a contented soul and a peaceful mind
…hhhhmmmm something to think about.
22 - How long will
it take to see benefit?
The effort we put in, is always relevant to
the results we get. The difference is you. Tone
flexibility and peace of mind will commence
from your very first class.
23 - How
often should I practice Yoga?
There is never a ‘should’ in yoga.
Yoga is to be utilised as a life tool and enjoyed
upon desire and need.
At first you will probably find one –
to two classes a week suits. Dependent on whether
you have a weight management, stress reduction
or like goal, then obviously what you put in
is what you will take out. The majority of people
practice between one and three times per week
both with a teacher and on their own. What you
will find is that the more you practice, the
more you want to practice. Your body starts
becoming supple and flexible and movements start
to flow easily, it becomes rewarding and FUN!
24 - Am I too
old to practice Yoga?
At yohm we teach yoga to many over the age of
65 and some of our clients are well into their
80’s. This is especially rewarding for
our yohm Technicians. We watch bodies defy norms
and age regularly, becoming more flexible and
relaxed than in youth in many cases . It can
slow and often reverse the aging process. As
we work at each individuals own pace, there
is no risk of injury or harm. Beneficial for
ailments such as circulation, constipation,
arthritis and bone weakness, you will begin
to sleep better and learn to breathe properly
once more. Yoga truly is an aid to sustaining
a disease free, healthy life, long into our
old age. See the yohm
Yoga Menu for especially designed classes
for those over 65.
25 - Why
are some yoga postures Ill advised during menstruation
and pregnancy?
Only inverted postures are ill advised during
menstruation. Common sense tells us that when
the body is trying to expel essential wastes
during a ‘period’, tampering with
gravity and turning the body upside down for
extended amounts of time will hinder the cleansing
process. At all other times inverted postures
are incredibly beneficial for our bodies.
During pregnancy full shoulder
stand without the use of a wall is ill advised.
The additional weight of your baby may place
unsafe pressure on the spine that you are unable
to balance or hold. Nausea may be caused, as
can an unsafe shifting and displacement of your
baby and the umbilical cord. yohm
Yoga and Pregnancy.
26 - Do
you do yoga for kids?
Yes we do. Please see the yohm
yoga menu. Yoga helps kids concentrate,
relax, and keep their cool, preventing obvious
postural and spinal problems later in life.
27 - How
do I know yohm teachers are safe and certified?
Important question. About

yoga, fitness and detox Retreats
