1 - What if I have never done yoga before?
Then a yohm yoga class where your body is cared for by your very own personal yoga instructor will be the ultimate introduction. Yoga needn't’t be at all an embarrassing faux par. 2 - Don’t I have to be somewhat flexible and a little athletic?
No. Your yohm technician will sensibly adjust a sequence of yoga postures to carefully suit your body, particularly in cases where complete inflexibility is experienced. 3 - Would it matter if I had injuries or specific medical ailments?
Yes injuries and medical ailments matter to us very much. We highly recommend a consultation with your regular GP and/or physiotherapist,osteopath or chiropractor before undertaking any form of yoga practice. To find an outstanding practitioner go to yohm Health

4 - Can I injure myself?
Yes and there are certain postures that yohm instructors will not teach without a certificate from your chiropractor or physiotherapist. Thanks for respecting our stance for your safety on this one.

CAUTION: Injuries caused from unsafe Yoga practice increased by more than 40% in 2004. With a yohm Yoga Technician you'll enjoy a safe and beneficial practice every time.

5 - Can I do yoga with a bad back and other injuries?
Yes. However we would always like you to seek medical advice first from your Doctor or Osteopath first. yohm recommends Osteopaths and Chiropractors for ongoing consulting purposes for our clients as we work with many seeking freedom from the restraints of their injuries. Sensibility, caution and expert knowledge are required of our technicians in such cases. When approached intelligently yoga strengthens the core – the natural support of the body – and can release the tension that many of us are holding in our backs and other points of ailment helping them to repair.

6 - What's the difference between all the different types of Yoga?
Hatha, Astanga Vinyasa, Iyengar, Sivananda, Bikram, Tantra, Raja, Bhakti, Karma, Jnana….It can all be just a little bit confusing frankly. For a complete unfolding see Yoga Styles and Methods

7 - Which of the styles discussed is best for me?
yohm utilises methods from all variations of Yoga. Remember as complicated as some would make it seem, yoga is simple.Your yohm yoga technician will advise thoroughly on a personable practice and this is the complete advantage of having your very own instructor. Upon their experiences of how your body works, taking into consideration, medical history, any previous or permanent injury, any physical goals you may have and your current state of physiology you will be taught the very best techniques. 8 - What do I wear?
Something as loose and/or as comfortable as possible. Tracksuit pants, fisherman's trousers, or regular lycra sportswear is perfect. Just imagine you were to do the splits in these clothes without tearing.
Keep in mind that even though difficult to find, natural organic fibres are best against the skin where ever possible as they allow the skin to breathe freely when releasing toxins. Shoes and socks are not worn during yoga and something warm to slip on during your warm up and relaxation is recommended.

9 - What makes a yohm yoga teacher so different from the rest?
It’s the attention to detail. yohm yoga teachers are trained to the above and beyond industry norms to deliver an unforgettable experience every time. Many of them multi talented in their professions relating to the the human body.They experience one-on-one coaching from yohm’s founder, to make your experience not great but the very best! 10 - Can I choose my instructor?
To a degree Yes. Giving us as much information about yourself when booking will enable us to match a suitable teacher to you. When booking a ten class course it has been known to happen that you fall in love with your teacher and you want to keep them throughout you ten classes and longer, perhaps packing them in your suitcase when traveling next to the Bahamas and even popping them under the xmas tree wrapped in red satin ribbon, just so you can gift yourself all over again. Should you however fancy a different teacher at any time through-out your ten class course for any reason at all including ‘just because’, please request. Variety is the spice of life and after all -you are worth it!

To a degree No. All yohm teachers are virtually equal in talent and ability. You may notice we don’t list individual biographies or include photographs of our instructors on this site. We wanted our class distribution to be fair and equal. Each of our yohm instructors have been carefully and selectively ‘hand picked’ from a very large organic crop of talented yoga technicians from around the world. If we didn’t think you’d love them, we wouldn’t have invited them to be a part of our team. The ‘best’, is our promise to you.

11 - Can I do it with a friend?
Yes you can and the price is 1.5 x just as it is for our listed yohm Yoga experience for couples

Although practicing with a friend could be seemingly more fun, most of you told us that you preferred having all of our attention to your self. It’s the attention to detail we put into our 1:1’s that make the experience unique and special. Our instructors are genius, however, in setting your expectations one pair of hands and eyes can only goes as far as one pair of hands and eyes can.

As no two bodies are alike, we suggest you and a friend try a class together, and try a class apart, before reaching a decision on the way you would like to practice regularly.

12 - Do you do yoga parties?

13 - Do you do Yoga for groups of staff/clients?

14 - Do I need a mat?
Yes. Your yohm Instructor will have one with as a part of our comprehensive service, but like your favorite piece of clothing you will want to make your yoga mat your very own. We hope hat you will also want to practice when we are not with you and a mat will be required to do so. 15 - How long is each class?
Each class is an hour and a quarter in length. This includes a 3 minute relaxation and meditation to open and a 10 minute relaxation and meditation to end.It has been known for yohm classes to run over, please inform your yohm instructor should you need your class to finnish at an exact time.

16 - How long should I wait to do Yoga after I eat?
A standard 2 hours is a sensible ideal, but this also depends on what you eat and how hungry you are. An apple or a banana are not likely to upset things. A steak on the other hand might. Leave it to your better judgment. Trial and error and the occasional stomach cramp will soon let you know if you’ve eaten too close to your class.

17 - Do I breathe through my nose in Yoga, or my mouth, or both?
Breathe in yoga flows in and out of the nostrils. The mouth remains relaxed and closed. Breathe is such a vital part of your yoga practice that we’ve developed specific notes and detailed intstruction. These will be taught during your yohm Yoga classes and your yohm Technician will have a great hand out for you to keep.

19 - Can I do yoga if I am pregnant?

21 - Will I lose weight?
During all physical exertion calories are burnt by the body. Should the calories burnt be less than the calories consumed, the common experience is a loss of weight. All methods of yoga will help to bring about weight balance. Just how quickly is up to you. (Booking a yohm Yoga and Detox Retreat is a great way to kick start weight loss. )

The body holds onto weight for various reasons. 22 - How long will it take to see benefit?

The effort we put in, is always relevant to the results we get. The difference is you. Tone flexibility and peace of mind will commence from your very first class.

23 - How often should I practice Yoga?
There is never a ‘should’ in yoga. Yoga is to be utilised as a life tool and enjoyed upon desire and need.
At first you will probably find one – to two classes a week suits. Dependent on whether you have a weight management, stress reduction or like goal, then obviously what you put in is what you will take out. The majority of people practice between one and three times per week both with a teacher and on their own. What you will find is that the more you practice, the more you want to practice. Your body starts becoming supple and flexible and movements start to flow easily, it becomes rewarding and FUN!


24 - Am I too old to practice Yoga?
At yohm we teach yoga to many over the age of 65 and some of our clients are well into their 80’s. This is especially rewarding for our yohm Technicians. We watch bodies defy norms and age regularly, becoming more flexible and relaxed than in youth in many cases . It can slow and often reverse the aging process. As we work at each individuals own pace, there is no risk of injury or harm. Beneficial for ailments such as circulation, constipation, arthritis and bone weakness, you will begin to sleep better and learn to breathe properly once more. 25 - Why are some yoga postures Ill advised during menstruation and pregnancy?
Only inverted postures are ill advised during menstruation. Common sense tells us that when the body is trying to expel essential wastes during a ‘period’, tampering with gravity and turning the body upside down for extended amounts of time will hinder the cleansing process. At all other times inverted postures are incredibly beneficial for our bodies.

During pregnancy full shoulder stand without the use of a wall is ill advised. The additional weight of your baby may place unsafe pressure on the spine that you are unable to balance or hold. Nausea may be caused, as can an unsafe shifting and displacement of your baby and the umbilical cord. yohm Yoga and Pregnancy.

Yes we do. Please see the yohm yoga menu. Yoga helps kids concentrate, relax, and keep their cool, preventing obvious postural and spinal problems later in life.
